This short, friendly session will explore...
✅ What does outreach with children involve?
✅ What are the benefits?
✅ What impact could I have?
✅ Is it suitable for me and my research topic?
✅ Get answers to your questions (if you join the live session)
You don’t need experience, you don't need to be a teacher. Just bring your curiosity and a willingness to explore whether this could be for you.
Join with camera on or off as you prefer

I'm Amanda Childs, a science educator, former researcher, and founder of Sparking STEM.
I work closely with schools and home-educating families, delivering inclusive and inspirational learning experiences for children of all ages, outdoors, indoors, and online.
Since 2018, I have trained researchers from over eighteen universities and research institutes, receiving consistently outstanding feedback, supporting them to develop the skills, knowledge and confidence to turn their complex research into focused and engaging outreach with children that delivers true reward and lasting impact.
With a background in zoology, entomology, and global field research, I bring a creative, curiosity-led approach to STEM education—especially for children with diverse needs. I live in Sheffield with my family and a weird and extensive collection of animals, and endless enthusiasm for nature.
